Established in Portland, Oregon in the year 1943, the Cascade Manufacturing Company started as a small machine shop hiring just four individuals. Overall sales for that initial year amounted to about 60 thousand dollars. The first recorded sales revenues involved the machining and assembly of stainless-steel valves, pipe fittings and various parts. During five years of operation, the business had expanded to forty employees and their yearly sales volume had risen to 330 thousand dollars.
